I am the soul
in limbo

2006
Gwangju Biennial
South Korea

In Gwanju Tee shows the large silkscreened fan Love lucious slumber (un) (re) veiled. Behind the fan four models of different places are displayed: Karakorum (Mongolia), Borobudur (Indonesia), the Eiffel Tower (Paris) and the Bijlmer flat Florijn (Amsterdam). These models appear like an altar and represents the topology of different places, periods in history and culture as well as mental journeys. During her stay Tee worked on a performance with female singers and male drummers, with the ongoing title I am the soul in Limbo. The performance- text, based on her experiences in Gwanju, revolves around the condition of an in-between state of mind, of shifting between different places and cultures, and of utopian longing.
