Design for an extensive water square for the new business centre Zuidas. The square is a psycho-geography of mental structures and inner processes. Contemporary life, where time and space are relative concepts, demands a surrounding where human, intercultural relations and emotions are modelled in a contemplative manner. The creation of a ceremonial plateau enables this. The square, with fountains spouting the words Oeverloos Verlangen (Shoreless Longing), is a place with a soul, a heart and domains of the senses. In these domains, present, past and future can be explored and experienced in a fictional game based on levensweg (path of life).
